Just south of Bergen, on the rugged yet picturesque Norwegian west coast, the ferry terminal of Hufthamer on Huftarøy connects the outer archipelago with Krokeide on the Norwegian mainland. Like many other ferry terminals along the coastline, there is only activity for shorter periods in the area: when ferries arrive and depart. Outside of these times, the traffic – and the need for lighting – is minimal. For this reason, it is unnecessary to illuminate larger areas and keep the light levels as low as possible.

Vestland County Municipality and Traftec aimed to find an efficient solution to save energy and reduce light pollution. Fagerhult provided Evolume luminaires equipped with Citygrid technology. The lighting is dimmed when no presence is detected, significantly reducing energy consumption. Additionally, the client can access operational data through an online portal, eliminating the need to visit the terminals in person.
