FYLLINGESKOLAN

Creating good learning environments for young students

Fyllingeskolan is located just south of Halmstad on the Swedish Westcoast. It hosts around 300 pupils from preschool through 3rd grade. The school is designed to be a landmark and a central spot in the community.

Already at an early stage, Fagerhult joined the project, working alongside consultants and client. Throughout the planning and building process, the focus has been on architecture and wise material choices. The overall goal was to find solutions and luminaires to enhance the building’s architectural aspects and provide a good and inspiring environment for the young students.

The school boasts a diverse range of learning environments, where classrooms, individual study rooms, and group collaboration spaces come together to create a stimulating environment for learning and creativity. The school also encourages movement and active teaching, with open learning environments featuring studios and the flexibility for alternative teaching methods.

The school’s outdoor environments have been planned to offer play and activities that consider the different needs of all children. Existing greenery on the site has also been preserved, and a forest grove that previously existed in the area is now a natural part of the school’s outdoor environment.

Fagerhult has delivered luminaires and lighting solutions that meet the school’s and students’ needs for good lighting throughout the school day – and throughout the different seasons of the school year.
