Award for high design quality: Skywalker receives a Red Dot

A show stopper at its pre-launch during the Light and Building Fair and now a Red Dot Product Design winner. Skywalker is the latest collaboration between Fagerhult and leading Innovations Consultants Above, a pendant with a unique form and exceptional light quality, developed to enhance the user experience in the contemporary workplace.

The widespread adoption of LED has emancipated designers to create ever slimmer luminaires, primarily focusing on the vertical level. Combining the vision of Scandinavian innovation agency Above with Fagerhult’s lighting expertise, Skywalker literally flips this concept, measuring just 36 mm in width. Rather than being innovation for innovation's sake, Skywalker creates a sense of personal space, incorporates human-centric lighting technology and complies with the European lighting standards.

Skywalkers definitive characteristic is the opening between the two light sources. A playful combination of two different shapes within the same fitting. The defined outer profile is tempered by the rounded corners for a less severe expression. By contrast, it is only when the light hits and creates shadows that you really experience the subtle nuance of the inner shape.

Skywalker provides a combination of 40 % direct and 60 % indirect light and, despite its small dimensions, there is enough space to incorporate controls and Tuneable White technology.

Rather than opting for a series of lenses, Skywalker's bespoke Beta Opti Nano louvre produces exceptional uniformity, without dark-spots, shielding and distributing the light to avoid glare.
