Online sneaker brand Axel Arigato has opened a brick-and-mortar flagship store in Copenhagen. The label, which began as an online-only couture sneaker label, launching new styles frequently, is stretching the limits on how a “usual” sneaker store would look or feel.
Axel Arigato opened its first physical store in Central London’s Soho, 2016, and has 6 physical stores in total spread over Europe. The venue in Copenhagen is the latest. This multi-levelled venue with a rough industrial concrete look, is designed by well renowned architect Christian Halleröd. Throughout the premises you find modern art by the Melbourne based über cool artist Kiri-una Brito Meumann. Over the store is a pattern of LED panel lights, mounted on a black ceiling, creating almost a chess pattern.
The aim is to be more than store, to be a part of the community.
‘The store is created for the people in our community, rather than bringing sales. This is the future of retail,’ says co-founder and CEO Albin Johansson.
