Lighting control in corridors
Corridors are a space for communication; not just in the sense of transport, but also for meetings between people. Spontaneous meetings occur in office corridors, while school corridors are also used for study or rest, and in hospitals, corridors are often also a place of work.
Since corridors can be very different, it is difficult to provide general advice on control solutions for all types of corridors, but for office and school corridors we recommend an e-Sense solution with several sensors along the corridor in order to optimise the lighting according to detection and any incident daylight. The lights in such a corridor should not be switched off completely, but dimming between a high and low level is preferred while there are people on the premises. The requirements are different for hospital corridors, where a programmed DALI solution may be a more appropriate choice.
Lighting control from a human perspective
As all corridors are different it is important that both the lighting and controls are adapted, and as long as there are people in nearby rooms, the light should not be completely switched off. Being in a room with a dark corridor outside creates a sense of insecurity.
